Feudal Japan Comes to Life on Xbox
KOEI Ltd, the European subsidiary of Japanese publisher and developer KOEI Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that following the PS2 launch in June Samurai Warriors™ the Japanese themed Tactical Action game that signals the culmination of KOEI’s 25 th Anniversary will ship to the European territories for Microsoft’s Xbox on September 04
The game is set in feudal Japan, during the “Sengoku” period where numerous warlords and heroic individuals are struggling to unify the country. When the political power of the Ashikaga Shogunate collapsed in the succession dispute of 1467, the island of Japan erupted in a series of major wars. This era in history became known as the as the Sengoku or “warring states” period.
Samurai Warriors™ explores this dramatic era and combines it with the Tactical Action excitement that KOEI has become well known for.
The player lives in the “Sengoku” period as either a famous warlord, a Samurai warrior, a stealthy Ninja or as a Kunoichi – a female Ninja.
Survive historical battles such as the Battle of Okehazama, the Battle of Kawanakajima, the clashes at Azuchi Castle and at Odawara Castle and decide your own fate.
Each scenario has multiple endings, adapted to the character chosen. History will be re-written with each decision the player makes.
With a multitude of weapons for each character, the player will be throwing stars (Shuriken), using sickle chains (Kusarigama), slashing with Ninja knifes (Kunai) and hacking with Samurai swords as you make your way through vast battlefields.
Each individual character within Samurai Warriors has their own unique move and attack modes, as has the varied enemies that the player will need to overcome.
Be on guard, as the player will come under attack from ‘musket squads’ and waves of ninja.
Within the playable environment on the battlefields are booby trap ridden castles which are automatically configured, generate. Therefore the path to victory is different every time, guaranteeing an authentic experience and longevity.
“Yukimura Sanada”, “Mitsuhide Akechi”, “Keiji Maeda.” All famous warlords of the period appear within the game.
